Hi, I’m Ari Heart
I am a yoga therapist, exercise scientist, and martial artist. As a child I was full of energy. I was the first to crack a joke and I loved to play. I lived with joyful exuberance. I lived a pain free life.
But as is the human condition, I was destined to experience a great deal of trauma. I was the victim of bullying, and my parents died tragic deaths. Life began to feel overwhelming. Soon I became aware of a powerful and dynamic pain growing within me; physical, mental, and emotional pain. Bewildered by the beatings life handed me, I forgot how to manage my pain, and pain became all I knew.
For most of my life, I turned towards screens and substances to disassociate from pain. Of course, this only made things worse. After years of suffering from chronic body pain, depression and anxiety, I finally met my breaking point. I realized that if I wanted to end the toxic cycle I was stuck in, I needed to address my pain.
My healing journey was not easy. It took a lot of hard work and a willingness to be uncomfortable. I experimented with many healing modalities before discovering practices that really worked for me. The deeper I dug, the more I realized that the healing power I was seeking was not something I could receive from an external source. It was something I already had. I realized that this healing power was an innate part of my body. Something I was born with, but had forgotten about long ago.
You too have innate healing power contained within your body. In fact, it is almost certain that the healing practices I offer to my clients and in my book you have already experienced before. They are instinctive practices all children demonstrate, and indigenous people continue these practices into adulthood. Unfortunately, modern life has separated you from your self healing instincts. Dominated by one shape - the chair shape - modern life traps human beings in cycles of pain, depression, and disease. Thankfully, breaking the cycle of pain is something you can start right now. The practices are free. You don’t need a gym or a doctor. You don’t need anything other than the desire to change, belief in yourself, and willingness to put in the work.
